Photography 101

It's no secret that I like to take pictures, lots and lots of pictures. And even though we had two perfectly good digital cameras, I managed to convince Ryan that we needed yet another one. I had fallen in love with the idea of a DSLR. Of course, I didn't even know what DSLR stood for at the time. I just knew I wanted one of those cameras that could do rapid fire shooting. I promised Ryan that I would take a class and really learn how to use this fun new toy.

Luckily for me, we know a wonderful professional photographer who offers classes for us amateurs. My friend and I signed up asap. My plan was to read the manual and familiarize myself with the camera before taking the class. Ha! That didn't happen. I did become very adept with the auto function though.

Jana walked us though the basics of photography and how to really get the most out of our cameras. She explained lighting, ISO, F-stop, aperture and composition in ways that made sense to me. We practiced with our own cameras and Jana helped us troubleshoot problems. The class was GREAT and I can't wait for the next one. Here are a couple of my practice shots.
