Victorian Christmas Eve

Our country this year was England, more specifically, the Victorian British Empire.  We took artistic license and included Jamaican Rum and Native American Pocahontas, hence the need to expand and include the whole empire in our theme.  A bit of trivia, we have Queen Victoria to thank for the tradition of our modern day Christmas tree.  My mom did her tree all in pink which was perfectly pretty for Tessa.  The rest of the house was also beautifully decorated using English ivy, roses and Victorian lace.
The menu for Victorian Christmas was easy since we decided to forgo the Christmas goose, only the flaming figgy pudding was new to us.  Honestly, my mom's old fashioned bread pudding was way better than the figgy pudding, but it was worth a try.  The warm apple cider spiked with rum kept us all warm and happy.
As per our tradition, the gifts were all for Tessa with the exception of a few trinkets for the adults.  I love my lavender scented pillows and essential oil from the old family farm in Heacham, UK.  My grandma received a book about Queen Elizabeth II (who bears a startling resemblance to said grandma) and Ryan had a sampling of British beers.
Our very own resident princess received the most beautiful Belle costume.  Belle is from France, but the English realize that France has the best fashion and so they import.

This is perhaps my favorite gift, a Bobbie(y) Bear from Harrods.  Love my mom's shopping ingenuity!
We headed home to put out cookies and milk for Santa.  I had forgotten to buy carrots for the reindeer but we decided an apple would work instead.  Notice the laser like focus Anabelle has on the cookies, no way could they stay here in front of the fireplace.  After all the excitement at G&G's house, I didn't think Tessa would ever go to sleep.  But, the thought of Santa skipping her house because she was still awake was all the motivation she needed to get to bed.  Although, I'm pretty sure that while in bed she spent a good while staring out her window looking for his sleigh.  Ahh, the magic of Christmas at four years old...
